Setting foot in remote terrain is an act of reformation for me. Before I leave I don’t see how I can make things better, but being out gives me perspective, a focus on direction.
And often a hyper-realized resolution on details that are important, while letting the background blur and fade.
Others model balance and wonder for all that surrounds us, salamanders to talus slopes. (Anna’s always in search of something amphibious but also looking out to the distant horizon.)
And sometimes it’s okay, and okay to realize that it’s okay, just to let the feet sink into the water and the gaze stare off into the distance.
